Kelford Roof Project

Roof Refurbishment and Solar Integration Completed at Kelford School, Rotherham

We are pleased to announce the fourth completion of a major roof refurbishment at Kelford School in Rotherham, incorporating solar panel technology.

The project, led by Rachel Gunns of Rider Levett Bucknall (RLB), was delivered in partnership with Future Roof Leeds Limited, with roofing products and guarantees provided by Garland UK, supported by Tom Ferry.

The installation of solar panels, carried out by South West Solar Solutions, is a significant advancement in the Trust’s decarbonisation strategy, helping to reduce energy consumption and future-proof our schools.

The integration of solar energy is not only environmentally responsible but also aligns with Nexus’s long-term goal to reduce carbon emissions across its estate, ensuring that schools are future-ready and resilient.

A special thank you goes to our Central Trust project team, Kerry Veall, Strategic Projects Lead, and Lynsey Smith, Enterprise Works and Projects Manager, who continue to successfully deliver our capital projects across Nexus Multi Academy Trust.

Feedback from Sarah Mulhall, Headteacher:

'The building is water tight and the quality of the product should see our building protected from the elements for 40 years. We experienced very accommodating contractors, nothing was too much trouble and whenever works took place during school time there was no impact to our pupils.'
