Two leading academy trusts propose merger to create unique education partnership in the North of England
Ebor Academy Trust and Nexus Multi Academy Trust announce consultation to combine expertise across 47 schools serving mainstream and special needs pupils
Two successful multi academy trusts (MATs) are consulting on a merger that would create a uniquely comprehensive education partnership, combining expertise across two areas of national priority in education: early years and special educational needs and disabilities.
Ebor Academy Trust and Nexus Multi Academy Trust have announced they are opening consultation on proposals to merge, forming a larger, more resilient organisation that would serve over 45 schools. The proposed partnership would bring together the trusts’ complementary specialisms, with Ebor's 25 mainstream primary schools and one special school joining forces with Nexus' 20 special schools and one mainstream primary school.
The footprint of the merged MAT would cover the majority of the Yorkshire and Humber region, creating an organisation that is not only better positioned to meet the needs of the Trusts’ existing schools sustainably, but also to extend its reach to support other schools regionally and nationally.
No changes are proposed to how schools across both trusts function day-to-day, meaning school uniforms, teachers and trust staff will all remain the same.
