CEO Briefing July 2016
Unreal as it seems, we are now almost at the end of the 2015/16 academic year and everybody is looking forward to a well earned summer break! Where has the last year gone?!?
The last few weeks have been as busy as ever. New pupils and parents have been visiting the schools; transitions are being followed through; and our leavers have been enjoying their final few weeks, capped off with Prom nights.
We’ve had lots of other events happening in and around the schools since my last newsletter. We’ve had two “S” Factor semi finals at Hilltop and Kelford, with some really talented acts making it through to the final on 14th July at Magna! Lots of parents and children have been visiting the schools over the past few weeks and we’re getting lots of new characters joining us from September which will add to our already lively school environments.
Big congratulations to Charlie & Ryan Hart and Abbie Platt who have been named as young people of the year by Maltby Town Council for their voluntary work to support Hilltop School in a range of different ways, including being there for every disco for older children and recent leavers on Wednesday evenings. Mums Chris Hodgkinson (Deputy Headteacher) and Kate Davis (PCR , Transition & After School Club Coordinator) will no doubt be very proud of this award. Their energy and commitment is a shining example for all of us.
Congratulations are in order for Vicki Drew (Kelford School) and Wayne Askham (Abbey School) for securing Specialist Leader in Education status with Learners First. This means that Vicki and Wayne have been assessed by a panel of experts and deemed as competent to work with other schools to share best practice and offer advice and guidance. This means more children and young people will benefit from their experience and expertise, which is great news. Well done to the both of them!
It’s been a really positive and successful school year for all of us, and I want to say a big THANK YOU to all staff at Abbey, Hilltop and Kelford Schools for their continued hard work and child-centered thinking and practice. Have a well earned summer break, and I’ll see you in all in September.
